Amp head is MINT. Only has 2.5 hours total use. Its an older one, 2005 edition and has that unmistakable sound. I travel to music shops all the time and I've never seen a used one as nice as this one. Plus you get the pedal (never used), cable, original book, and Mesa canvas cover. I have had emails "I'm asking too much". Well, I can tell you, I have a brand new 2026 Dual Rectified in the Rosso red. Its gorgeous but sadly doesn't remotely compare. Its not just the wattage or the better made transformer. Its apparent Mesa/Gibson tried to make the 2026 user/studio friendly, where the 2005 retains that menacing wall of sound! Check out Ola playing his on the video sample.

Factory Specifications (2005 Catalog)

  • The 3 Channels & 8 ModesThe factory breakdown explained that instead of sharing controls, the 2005 model gave players 3 fully independent channels with distinct preamp structures: [1, 2]
  • Channel 1 (Rhythm): Clean or Pushed modes (ranging from sparkling, tight jazz cleans to bluesy, dynamic grit).
  • Channel 2 (Lead/Crunch): Raw, Vintage High Gain, or Modern High Gain modes.
  • Channel 3 (Lead): Raw, Vintage High Gain, or Modern High Gain modes (delivering molten, cascading high-gain fury.

  • Bold/Spongy "Variac" Switch (Patent 5,091,700): Dropped the internal voltage to give the amp a saggy, harmonic "brown sound," or left it on "Bold" for maximum headroom and headroom volume.
  • Foot-switchable SOLO Control (Patent 6,724,897): A completely independent master volume boost activated by a 5-button footswitch, specifically engineered to make lead work cut over the top of a full band mix.
  • Assignable Parallel FX Loop: Equipped with Send and Mix level controls, allowing players to assign effects to specific channels or bypass the loop entirely.
  • The head shipped from the factory dressed in its iconic industrial visual style: Black Taurus vinyl covering, a Black faceplate chassis, and a Polished Diamond Plate front panel.
