Up for sale is a collection of extremely well made Collins preamp modules from the 1960's:
2) 356B-1 - Program/Microphone Preamplifiers (High Gain, High Output Level) - Essentially a copy of the excellent Langevin AM-5117 program amplifier with ADC instead of Langevin transformers. . The Collins 356B1 is the same design as the General Electric 4BA12 Preamp
The 356B-1 can be strapped for 150 ohm or 600 ohm input impedance for microphones or line input. The 356B1 has a gain switch with 56db and 68dB gain, makes it one of the best sounding pre-amps you can get. These 356B-1's have more gain than the 40dB gain 356A-1 .The output section is 2 6V6's, Push Pull into a massive high quality output transformer. These modules were removed from a working console but have not been tested . I did re-tube them with all new tubes. The full manual and schematics are on line at a couple of places , collinsradio.org. The module requires either a console to plug it into or a power supply and the technical knowledge to connect it up properly. It also needs to be re-capped . These modules are completely original.
