Dave Mustaine’s relationship with ESP began in 2004, during the period surrounding Megadeth’s return with The System Has Failed. The partnership produced the DV8, a sharp and unmistakably Mustaine-style V that became his main recording and touring guitar during this chapter of the band’s history. The collaboration was relatively brief, but it resulted in some of the most recognizable signature instruments connected to Mustaine outside his earlier Jackson years.

Introduced as the more attainable counterpart to the ESP DV8, the LTD DV-200 brought the same basic design and visual identity into a more accessible package. It retained the aggressive V-shaped body, 25.5-inch scale, string-through construction, black hardware, white neck and headstock binding, and the distinctive 8-ball inlay at the first fret.

The DV-200 features a basswood body, bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets, a Tune-o-matic bridge and its original pair of Duncan Designed HB-102 humbuckers. The electronics consist of individual volume controls for each pickup, a master tone and a three-way selector.

This particular example remains completely original, with no replaced hardware, pickups or electronic components. The Black finish isclean, including the points of the body and headstock, areas where these guitars commonly show heavy damage. The frets, fingerboard, hardware and plastics are equally well preserved.

It is supplied with its original giant hardshell case, also in excellent condition, completing a remarkably clean and fully original example of the more accessible counterpart to the Japanese ESP DV8, built to preserve the same unmistakable design, proportions and tone.
