This is one of two Akai 650D decks I purchased new in 1976 and have owned ever since. Both have been kept together for nearly fifty years, which is extremely uncommon for these machines. Each deck is listed separately on Reverb, so a buyer has the rare opportunity to acquire a matched pair from the same original owner.
Both units remain in very good working order with clean transport response and smooth tape handling. I’ve included a YouTube video showing this deck (and its twin) operating so you can see it power up, record, play, and appreciate the overall quality. The video was recorded in July 2026 and reflects the current condition of the machine. Cosmetically very good with normal light wear for its age.
