Selling a vintage pro model Selmer Series 9 Bb clarinet (circa 1961). I was having issues covering the right ring finger hole so I had Lohff & Pfeiffer do a plateau conversion. Now I am having issues with covering a left ring finger hole. So rather than send the clarinet back to Lohff & Pheiffer to do the left-hand plateau conversion, I bought a complete plateau clarinet. Lohff & Pheiffer also did a complete overhaul (LP Pro overhaul) of the clarinet when they made the right had conversion which was expensive. The LP Pro overhaul includes: analyzing of condition, de-mounting of the entire mechanism, thoroughly adjusting the mechanism, removal of key play and if necessary replacement of rods and screws, removal of all cork, felt, and pads, ultrasonic cleaning, cleaning and polishing, treating wood, repairing tone holes, replacing tenon corks and springs, adjusting and balancing spring tension, pad and bumper fastening with secure lock, installing pads and bumpers, adjusting key heights, and testing the seal and playability. All of these overhaul steps result in an instrument that will keep its sound and respond easier, the intonation will be more stable and the dynamic range will be wider. The mechanism will feel firm, strong, and well-balanced. The clarinet comes with a HS* mouthpiece I am a professional woodwind player and this Series 9 is a very good clarinet and plays great. All the silver plating is in excellent shape with no mars and no cracks in the wood. I purchased the original clarinet from the owner who only played it in high school. The Series 9 has a bigger bore then the Series 9* so it plays great for jazz. The clarinet also comes with a “new” Selmer case. I have over $2,000 invested in this clarinet from original purchase, Plateau conversion, LP Pro overhaul. From what I have seen this clarinet is by far the best Series 9 available. My loss is your gain.
