Play a piece of history with this overhauled Conn Director wooden clarinet.
The serial number for this clarinet is 862050, dating this clarinet to 1960.
This clarinet has been overhauled with a cork register key pad and white leather Roo pads for the wooden tone holes. All cork has been replaced before air testing and finally play testing.
Grenadilla wood is nearing threatened status and modern clarinets often use less dense substitutes and shorter cure times to cut costs. Playing a vintage instrument is a great way to reduce environmental impact without a hit to quality. The metal content of the keys is unknown; they do not seem to be plated.
While the mouthpiece the instrument came to me with has been cleaned and is included, it has not been tested or recorked and may need refacing if intended for play.
The instrument case has been cleaned but not refurbished. The latches are functional. The case is very roomy with space for music/books behind the upper panel.
Allergen warning: the bore oil used contains a nut oil (almond) as do many bore oils in general. I would not recommend that someone with a severe allergy handle any wood clarinet.
