About this listing
This is a 1983 Fender Japan JV Serial ST62-65 LH Stratocaster, an extremely rare left-handed model manufactured by FujiGen.What makes this particular guitar especially unusual is its extensive period-style 1980s hard rock modification, featuring a rare vintage left-handed Floyd Rose FRT-3 locking tremolo and early 1980s EMG SA pickups with caramel-colored backs.Left-handed JV-era Fender Japan Stratocasters are already extremely difficult to find, but finding one equipped with these rare vintage left-handed components is even more unusual. In terms of rarity, left-handed Stratocasters from the JV era are extremely difficult to find—even rarer than the top-of-the-line ST62-115.The original specifications include an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard.Modifications / Features• Vintage Floyd Rose FRT-3 Left-Handed Locking TremoloAn early FRT-3 locking tremolo has been installed. Vintage FRT-3 units have become increasingly sought after, and the left-handed version is exceptionally difficult to find today.• Early 1980s EMG SA PickupsThe pickups have been replaced with early EMG SA active pickups featuring the distinctive caramel-colored backs. These early examples have also become increasingly collectible and valuable in recent years. The electronics have naturally been converted to an active configuration.• Locking nut• Sperzel locking tuners• Black pickguard• Replaced pots and electronics / active wiring• Converted to a top-mounted output jack• Refretted with larger fretsThe result is a true 1980s hard rock-style Stratocaster, combining a rare JV-era Fender Japan left-handed neck and body with vintage modification parts that would be extremely difficult to find today. The components themselves have considerable value, particularly the early EMG SA pickups and the vintage left-handed Floyd Rose FRT-3.Modifying a JV-serial Fender Japan Stratocaster this extensively would take some courage nowadays, and it is extremely unusual to find a JV-era guitar that has already been modified to this level. Considering the current rarity and value of these vintage parts, recreating a similar guitar today would likely be both difficult and expensive. This guitar is obviously not recommended for collectors looking for an all-original JV Stratocaster. However, if you appreciate this kind of heavily modified 1980s specification, this is a very unique and exciting instrument that would be extremely difficult to recreate today.WeightApproximately 3.8 kg (8.4 lbs).ConditionDespite its age, there are no severe or particularly noticeable damages, and overall I would describe the condition as fairly good for a guitar from 1983.The frets still have plenty of life remaining. The modifications do not appear to have been amateur work, so I believe they were likely carried out professionally. However, I cannot confirm who performed the modifications. Please note that unfortunately, the truss rod has limited remaining adjustment room in the loosening direction. There are no problems with the guitar in its current setup, and the instrument has been fully adjusted.Included Accessories• Aftermarket gig bag• Tremolo armNone of the original parts are included. Please note that the battery will be removed before shipping. Please note that this is a used item. There are no issues with its current functionality, but please understand that you may need to make further adjustments after purchase to suit your preferences.Be sure to review the photos and description carefully before placing a bid.If there’s anything you’d like to confirm, please don’t hesitate to contact us.Important NoticePayments are accepted via PayPal only. Please ensure the shipping address in your PayPal account exactly matches the one registered on Reverb. We will ship to the Reverb-registered address even if you use Guest Checkout or if the PayPal address does not match.
