1969 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst - serial 262521

Offered for sale is this beautiful late 1969 Fender Stratocaster in its original Sunburst finish. This is a spectacular-sounding player’s example with an incredibly rich history and a vibe that only a well-loved golden-era instrument can deliver.

The guitar still retains its original factory finish on both the body and neck. The neck itself is an absolute standout piece of wood, boasting an awesome birdseye maple grain paired with a beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard and its original headstock decals intact.

ELECTRONICS & HARDWARE
Under the pickguard, the electronics are highly original and feature a rare set of original "black bottom" pickups that deliver an absolute masterclass in late-60s Strat tone, punchy, clear, and incredibly resonant. The assembly features 1969-dated CTS pots with the correct 035865 Fender factory part number, the original CRL 1452 3-way switch, and the gorgeous, correct "pearloid back" white celluloid pickguard.

RESTORATIONS & HISTORY
This Stratocaster has had quite a life and has been treated to some expert maintenance over the years to keep it performing at its best. The neck has been professionally refretted and plays beautifully. At one point, alternative tuners were installed, but the original F-style tuners are now back on the guitar. Additionally, the tremolo sustain block was replaced long ago due to a broken tremolo arm inside the original block.

THE NECK POCKET RESTORATION
During the 1980s, the previous owner, an hardcore Ritchie Blackmore fan, temporarily swapped the neck for a 3-bolt 1974 maple neck. To make this work, the original 4-bolt neck pocket was modified to accommodate the Micro-Tilt / 3 bolts system. Thankfully, in the early 2000s, the owner commissioned a highly skilled master luthier to completely restore the neck pocket back to its original factory 4-bolt configuration and reinstall the original 1969 birdseye neck. The structural work is top-tier, rock-solid, and completely hidden beneath the neck plate.
