Ibanez Musician MC924 — 1984 — Crafted in Japan

Ibanez Musician MC924 bass made in Japan in 1984 (serial D841032). Neck-through construction, mahogany/ash body, ebony fretboard with 24 frets, active electronics (volume, balance, tone, 3-band EQ).

Condition and modifications:

Frets: Refretted by a trusted luthier. Fretboard and frets are in very good condition, no wear.

Tuners: Two of the four tuners were replaced with original Ibanez tuners identical to the factory ones (not the original units for this specific instrument, but the same make/model).

Mini switch: The original switch was broken and was replaced with a non-original one. Does not affect the main active electronics.

Finish (dark stain): Visible wear from 40 years of use. There's finish loss and chipping in several areas of the body, particularly on the lower edge (see detailed photos). This is cosmetic, not structural to the body.

Crack in the control cavity: There's a crack on the edge of the electronics cavity (visible in photos). Based on its appearance, it looks like a previous owner attempted to disguise it at some point. It does not affect the instrument's functionality — all electronics work correctly — but it's disclosed with full transparency since it's a real defect in the wood in that area.

Headstock: Small chip on the top edge, visible in photo, typical for an instrument of this age.

All active electronics, original pickups, bridge, and controls work perfectly. Sounds and plays great — the issues described are cosmetic or isolated and don't compromise the sound or playability.
