This Firemist Gold Sonar is a standout example of the Sonar’s versatility. It’s loaded with three custom-voiced Frank Brothers V.O. Mini Humbuckers that deliver a full, punchy tone with a tighter, more focused low end than traditional full-sized humbuckers—think a more articulate, snappier P.A.F. that blends single-coil clarity with humbucker warmth. The MOD switching system, mounted on a custom aged nickel plate, includes a treble cut, a neck-on switch for expanded pickup combinations, and a blower switch that routes the bridge pickup directly to the output for maximum clarity.
Beyond its tonal flexibility, this Sonar offers the feel and vibe of a great vintage instrument. The light relic gloss nitrocellulose lacquer shows tight natural checking, the deeply contoured lightweight Alder body feels sleek and balanced, and the stripped-and-oiled quartersawn Flame Maple neck gives a smooth, broken-in feel. Paired with a beautifully dark Indian Rosewood fretboard with heavily rolled edges, the playing experience is effortlessly comfortable.
A Mastery tremolo and bridge ensure exceptional tuning stability, while Kluson Deluxe vintage-style tuners round out the build.
