A beautiful Vintage 1981 Alvarez Model 5017 Dreadnought Guitar. Hand Made in Japan as evidenced from the stamping on the back brace. See pic 6... We dated it from the date stamped on the sound hole label. See pic 5...

Alvarez made these guitars in Japan from 1971 thru 1985 with the Eagle Label... Not sure the date stamped is correct but it is Made in Japan and would make sense that the 1981 era could be correct.

The guitar plays great with easy playing low action. The truss rod works and we had it set up with new strings... The bridge is on nice and tight with no lifting... The bridge saddle has been lowered to about as low as it can go. Will the guitar need a neck set some day? Yes, but not for a long time. The neck is nice and straight and plays great now. The guitar was well loved and played a lot as evidenced from the few finger divots on the top few frets. The do not affect play at all and are not noticeable while playing.

Just a few player dings and scratches here and there. No cracks. One bang on the back of the neck near the neck heel. See pic 12. The guitar has a 16 inch lower bout and measures 41 inches long. It has a 25 1/2 inch scale neck and the nut measures a full 1 3/4 inches... Nice medium C profile. Finger Pickers will love this one!
