Cornet Margueritat Paris (Couesnon)

Very nice and rare cornet Margueritat Paris, built in the Margueritat workshop in Paris, France, between 1938-1950. During this time, many smaller brass instrument makers collaborated with the already famous Couesnon company and used many Couesnon components or even had their instruments made by Couesnon. So, structurally and acoustically, this cornet is essentially a mid‑grade Cousenon‑pattern professional cornet, engraved Margueritat Paris. Cornet have B♭/C dual-tuning, include interchangeable tuning slides for B♭ / C. Brass, bore size 11 mm, bell 122 mm. Warm tone, focused, very lyrical; classic “French” cornet voice. In B♭ mode: typical dark, mellow cornet sound. In C mode: bright, light response, suitable for ensemble or small orchestra playing.

The instrument underwent complete technical maintenance and repair, including internal and external cleaning. The cornet is in very good technical condition; all valves and slides move well. The instrument was not polished to a very bright or shiny finish on the outside but was left with a darker golden yellow sheen.

I made a vintage wooden instrument case for this cornet myself. I have an original box that is over 100 years old, and I made a vintage instrument case based on its appearance and dimensions. The material for the instrument case comes from about 100-year-old wardrobe shelves. To achieve the vintage look, I used nails to make the box, tinted the exterior with old-fashion stain, and waxed it with antique furniture wax. All traces of history have been preserved on the surface of the wood.

The instrument also comes with an original vintage mouthpiece, a C tuning slide, and a vintage sheet music holder that can be attached to the instrument.
