A truly rare and special piece: an Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop from 2004 – built in Korea – released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the legendary Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. And yes: this guitar is a genuine collector’s item with soul and character.
The most striking feature is undoubtedly the elaborate inlay in the rosewood fingerboard with the band name “Lynyrd Skynyrd” spelled out in full. On the back, a 30th Anniversary logo has been applied under the clear coat – it looks fantastic and is extremely rare. The Goldtop itself is classic and elegant, with a perfectly balanced look that radiates something truly special.
This lady plays beautifully and sounds big and powerful – not least thanks to the high-quality modifications:
- Gibson Burstbucker Pro pickups in neck and bridge position – they sing, roar, and deliver the full Les Paul experience with character
- Gotoh stopbar tailpiece – improved tuning stability and added sustain
- New electronics – upgraded pots, switch, and capacitors, thoughtfully done
- Schaller Original G-Series tuners
As always, we’ve gone over the frets and performed a full setup. Playability is excellent, and with these components, it’s absolutely on “G.-level”. The neck has a rather flat 60s-style profile.
There are a few light surface scratches on the back, nothing deep; the front is very clean. Very little play wear overall – this guitar was clearly admired more than it was played.
Includes the original Epiphone case – a solid, good-quality one.
