The 1942 Banner J-45 Reissue is part of the Inspired by Gibson Custom Collection and is a faithful reproduction of the renowned J-45, crafted in the Gibson Acoustic workshops in Bozeman, Montana, and offered at a significantly more accessible price.
Introduced in 1942, the J-45 quickly became the best-selling acoustic guitar of all time, earning the nickname "The Workhorse" due to its elegant simplicity, balanced tone, and versatility, which is appreciated on stages and in recording studios around the world. The original models from that year are now among the most sought-after and valuable vintage acoustic guitars.
The top is made from artificially aged solid spruce, paired with solid mahogany back and sides, and a mahogany neck with a "V" profile.
The rosewood fingerboard provides natural and comfortable playability and is adorned with pearloid “Dot” inlays.
To suit the needs of modern guitarists, the Epiphone 1942 Banner J-45 Reissue is equipped with an L.R. Baggs™ Element Bronze VTC system featuring a piezo under-saddle pickup and an active preamp with volume and tone controls mounted inside the soundhole, making it stage and studio ready.
Completing the package are refined aesthetic details, including the Gibson-style “open book” headstock, the Rectangle bridge, and the drop-shaped pickguard, true to that found on the earliest J-45 models.
