Squier CST-30 (CST-398) – Rare Early Fujigen-Made Model in Excellent Condition!

This rare Squier CST-30 (CST-398) has just arrived in great condition!
The SQ serial is known as the successor to the famous JV serial, but in fact, both were produced during overlapping periods.
Based on the neck date, this one was made in 1984, the same year as many JV serial models — meaning it is essentially of the same build quality and era.

Unlike modern Chinese-made Squiers, this one was crafted by skilled builders at the Fujigen factory in Japan, ensuring top-tier workmanship and vintage accuracy.

The design is based on the 1970s Stratocaster, featuring a large headstock and bullet truss rod.
It has an alder body, maple neck, and round rosewood fingerboard, with SQ-3 single-coil pickups delivering a rich and well-balanced tone — vintage-inspired yet smooth and controlled.
Controls include 1 Volume, 2 Tone, and a 5-way selector switch.

There are some minor cosmetic scratches and light signs of use consistent with age, but overall, it’s in excellent condition for a 1984 instrument.
The neck is straight, and the frets have plenty of life left.
