A rare early 1970s Electro-Harmonix Black Finger — one of the company’s most iconic sustain/distortion pedals from the same golden era as the original Big Muff and Small Stone.
This is the first-generation model, built in the USA, featuring a large metal enclosure and three classic controls: Volume, Sustain, and Tone. Inside you’ll find the original point-to-point style PCB, vintage orange drop capacitors, and carbon film resistors, all consistent with early EHX construction. The circuit provides a thick, creamy sustain and warm fuzz character — somewhere between a Big Muff and a compressor — with a beautifully organic response.
Cosmetically, it shows typical wear and oxidation for its age, but all text and graphics remain legible. The pedal powers up correctly via dual 9V batteries (as per the original design). The sound is unmistakably vintage EHX — fat, sustaining, and full of character.
A must-have for collectors and vintage tone enthusiasts, especially those into 1970s New York–era Electro-Harmonix designs.
