At the time of its release, MXR dominated the compressor market. However, with the introduction of this model featuring a mini switch, a new era of compressor sounds began.
Interestingly, the CS-1 Compression Sustainer was the first BOSS compact series pedal to feature a mini switch.

This model was produced during the transition from silver screw to black screw (screw-type), so both versions exist.

The sound is distinctly compressor-like, often described as a "Pakkoon" or "Pakoon" tone, capturing its characteristic punchy attack.
