1991 GUILD ARTIST AWARD archtop BLONDE

Rare. Mint Conditions. Serial number JA100321. Gorgeous archtop is this guitar 17" beauty from GUILD U.S.A. Gorgeous natural gold hardware including Grover Imperial tuners. Nice combination of acoustic archtop excellence and just enough amplification to enable the working pro to play anywhere. The wood selection is top notch, especially the highly flamed maple back and equally figured maple sides. All original in MINT CONDITIONS (see the pictures). Original Guild hardcase (code VA899). This guitar was built in 1991 at the Westerly, Rhode Island facility which Guild occupied from 1966 until 2001. It features a hand-carved select solid spruce top and carved flamed (fiddle-back) maple body, a multi-piece flamed maple neck with a fully bound ebony fingerboard decorated with abalone triangles inside pearl block inlays and a stylish art deco headstock with multi-piece bindings and a signature abalone block inlay inset with a pearl logo Guild nameplate. Additionally, the top and back are fully bound with a multi-piece pattern similar to that on the headplate, and the tortoise pickguard is also bound and has attached to it a single volume control and a single floating humbucker with a gold cover plate. Finally, this guitar is fitted with gold Imperial Grover tuning machines, an ebony bridge system and it has a 1 11/16" nut width and 25 1/2" scale length. The Artist Award is Guild's flagship archtop jazz guitar. It's an acoustic archop built of the finest materials. A carved solid spruce top, solid curly maple back and sides, a five-piece maple neck with a select ebony fretboard and distinctive inlays of natural abalone and mother of pearl make the Artist Award a work of art to both ear and eye. Guild's most experienced and skilled craftsmen are chosen to work on the Artist Award. In the 40-year history of Guild, only 1,600 Artist Awards have been made, making this fine instrument not only a great-sounding and beautiful instrument, but a collector's item as well. No words can describe what must be experienced--this certainly applies to the Artist Award.
