Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very unique and attractive looking midcentury microphone made by Claricon back in the 1960's that is in excellent working order and is set at high impedance. A great omni-directional dynamic microphone that can be used for general broadcasting and it comes with the cable and stand shown.

If you have  a HAM radio set up or just need a mic that has a bright tone with an older "rockabilly" tone then this mic will certainly do. It's been tested, cleaned and thoroughly gone over with a perfect working signal. No issues.

The Claricon 38-040 model was an all metal construction being very rugged and has a beautiful satin chrome front grill. A larger but lite weight microphone with decent sound characteristics.

The microphone itself resembles a rocket or jet engine which was a popular theme at that time and the look was emulated by many microphone companies. The black on chrome is a stunning look as well.

Claricon was just one of a dozen Japanese mic companies that were selling entry level mics and the 38-040 would have been much easier on the pocket books than most E.V and Shure model mics of the same caliber.

As you can see in the pictures provided the satin chrome front grill is quite nice having extremely lite wear in the form of tiny pitting. There are zero dent's or odors on the black front screen. Just a few lite scuff marks and tiny scratches on the black painted body that are hard to see from even a couple feet away. The joint mechanism works perfectly as well with adjustable tension as needed. The threads for the stand are excellent and this mic will screw onto any stand you have though one is already provided. The Claricon badge looks very nice too and completely legible.

You'll notice that there is a nice 7 foot attached cable included. It's just as nice as the day it was sold being soft, pliable and shows zero damage. It has a standard male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment and all guitar amps.

This mic is easily an 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10 cosmetically speaking. It will make a very fine display piece as well if you don't plan on using the mic.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...

The desk stand is a period rarer Japanese model made with a painted aluminum base and dual chrome risers. It makes a very good platform for this top heavier mic. The stand is in very nice overall physical condition showing just lite wear from the past 60 years.

The clutch mechanism allows you to raise the mic up too 14 inches in length and down to just 8 inches if needed. With the mic on top of the stand it sits at 15 inches when lowered.

Please let the detailed pics be your guide.

As with all my vintage microphones...
