Fully Restored Marantz ESOTEC SM-6 Stereo Power Amplifier Switchable Class A/AB 30/120WPC

For sale is fully restored Marantz SM-6 stereo power amplifier from their highly esteemed ESOTEC that we recently went all out on restoring! This incredible performer boasts big beautiful meters, switchable 120W class AB or 30W class A biasing and over the top build quality! There's a ton of info about these online and one would be hard pressed to find a negative review. The performance is top notch through and through. The cool part is one can really hear a difference between class A and class AB! Both settings sound phenomenal and this little button actually adds quite a bit of versatility to something that is otherwise usually pretty much you get what you get.

Cosmetically the amp is in nice overall condition - it's not perfect but did clean up well. It was detailed thoroughly inside and out. Please study the pics carefully and ask any questions you may have. It had some slight marking along the edges of the faceplate but cleaned up rather nicely after a good scrubbing. It presents beautifully especially with the sharp/clean modern LED lighting on those awesome monstrous meters!

Electronically the restoration consisted of replacing any and all electrolytic and tantalum capacitors throughout the entire unit with new high temp, low impedance, long life parts. This series also has some failure prone flame-proof and other resistor types that were all replaced as well. Any obviously cooking parts were upped on wattage as well as isolating them from the board for better heat dissipation. Each board was gone over with a fine toothed comb and nearly every solder joint was touched up on all boards. Any failure prone transistor types or bad substitutions from a previous repairs were replaced with proper subs or upgraded where possible. The metering circuits were also rebuilt and recalibrated for even performance that's spot on with the actual wattage. The class A and class AB bias were both set carefully and checked repeatedly for many hours. DC offset and bias are rock solid. Class A does get hotter than class AB but this is to be expected when the bias current is increased around 20x in the factory design!

The amplifier will be packaged and shipped so it arrives as it left here - we spend a lot of time on these restorations and want to make sure the amp will arrive safely!
