For sale here is a late 60's Farfisa Compact Duo Combo Organ, which, if you know about these things, is basically the holy grail of the weird italian organs.

Famously used by Rick Wright of Pink Floyd on the band's early singles and first album () and the big brother of the Combo Compact, which you're probably familiar with thru just about any garage rock band that existed in the mid 60s, this thing really has some beautiful, amazing tones. But it does so so so much more than 60s garage tones! Engage any of the non-boost footages, and you can play anything from Sun Ra style jazz to Alicia Coltrane style jazz and probably some other styles of jazz. Crank the reverb and use some of the softer footages and you can pretend you're in a dang church or are John Maus or something. Play thru a proprietary Time Lag Accumulator and become the embodiment of Terry Riley, Steve Reich, or a young Meredith Monk (see: turtle dreams, candy bullets and moon). Also, Suicide, Stereolab, and a whole slew of other more-or-less contemporary bands have used these things to varying levels of success. I'm lookin at u, 'bitchin bajas'

Maybe you can...be a star....too...

Regarding this organ itself:
Cosmetically in Very good condition, with a few very small tears in the tolex covering. All the footages work well, as well as the vibrato, reverb, tremolo, and multi tone booster (the heart and soul of this thing). Percussion tab is occasionally wonky, but works perfectly on the bass register. Both keyboards and their respective unique footages work as well.

Most importantly, this unit still has its Farfisa F/AR Amp/Reverb unit, which is essential to powering this thing as well as routing the signal to an amp or mixer thru a quarter inch output (otherwise you need a specially wired amp with an 8 pin DIN input and a farfisa designed preamp.)

The only downsides: this organ is heavy as heck and Farfisa made the brilliant decision to install the handles on the cover, which does not secure to the body very well. This is complicated further by the previous owner's highly questionable decision to replace the factory latches with rounded sliding window locks (????) so I recommend getting a buddy and carrying this thing horizontally. I can help if need be!

It also needs a tune-up, which is easily accomplished using the tuning pots under the 'hood'. I only haven't done this because it requires an insulated screwdriver (proximity of uninsulated metal to the tuning pots can throw them out of tune via some electromagnetic property I don't understand.) Also the C oscillator card occasionally misbehaves depending on weather, and will change to an F. When I bought the organ, this was happening on several other cards constantly, and it turned out to be just a matter of replacing one transistor--the change based on weather indicates it's temperature related and thus a case of one transistor beginning to fail, I just never went thru with a voltmeter to see what the troublemaker was.

I dunno what else to say? This pretty much sums up the Power of this organ:

OK ????

Ok !!!!!
