Terratec Axon AX100 MKII Guitar to Midi controller Synth Synthesizer sound module arpeggiator drums

The Axon AX100 by German company Terratec is known as the most accurate and fastest tracking midi guitar synthesizer unit made.  If you're looking, you likely know about this one already - but if you're wanting to get into midi guitar/mando/bass and you want the world's best synth, converter and controller - then you're in the right place.

This rare synth allows you to setup different ‘pick’ and ‘fret’ zones on the guitar neck—as in, on the low two strings you can make it sound string bass, the two high strings play drum kit, and your inner strings can be an organ patch or strings or whatever. Or, set up certain sounds on only certain frets, just like keyboardists have ‘zones’ and ‘splits’ - this unit does it for guitar, mandolin or whatever you put your 13 pin pickup on. None of the other synths I’ve ever used can do this - the Axon AX-100 MKII is one of a kind in this kind of control. It works with GK-2 or Piezo 13 pin outputs, and the tracking control / setting up of different instruments is great. I triggered this synth with guitars, mandolins and even a couple midi violins. I’ll leave all of my weird, horror soundtrack User bank patches on there for the lucky buyer.

My sometimes employer R. Fripp from King Crimson uses one of these in his Sirius Probe fridge-sized rack of doom. He liked the strings and oboe sounds. The piano and low saxophones are also quite good on it. It has an incredibly low and dense "Dolby SuperScope" Theater type sound that is on the list of things I will miss letting this bad boy go. 

This unit is in very good shape and comes with original DVD manual, box and packaging. Ver 7.04 OS. Also comes with CUBASE on a CDR - I’m sure that’s an old version. These synths are no longer made, and support for the edit software would be WIN 6,7,8 and NT and a bunch of earlier Macintosh OS’s. I am the original, non-smoking owner. I had it in a suitcase system and the contrast knob was lost; that is the only real ding aside from some light rack rash / scratches here. As you can see the LCD display is still like new, and the unit functions perfectly. 12VAC power supply is also included.

Guitaristic virtuosity means mastering the entire technical spectrum. Quick changes between bass notes and high solistic melodies give the guitar its flexible ability. Not a problem with the AXON AX 100 MKII and its string splits and fret splits. Various sounds or timbres can be assigned to the different split areas.

You can, for example, assign a bass guitar sound to the lower strings and maybe a sax or distortion guitar sound to the upper solo strings, and then for the middle fret split a piano or twelve string sound.

Special Effects are possible using the modulation wheel on the guitar interface as well as the pick control function, which registers the actual position of your right hand over the string.
