Now that I have your attention here is The rundown on this beauty: I bought the cheapest Firebird V I could find and had John Dear at Archies Guitars in Dallas disassemble it. Then i sent the body off to MJT to strip it and refinish it in lightly aged Inverness Green to match Steve Winwoods Traffic era Firebird! That one guitar got me into collecting guitars, because it’s so cool looking! but after a few years of waiting (in the meantime buying and selling lots of other cool vintage guitars) I came to the realization that even if one ever came up for sale I couldn’t afford it. At that time there weren’t any reissues either. So this was the best option and it ended up being just what I was looking for. It had been played a lot before I got it, there are divots all up and down the fretboard as you can see in the pics but there isn’t any string buzz so it’s good to go and It plays just fine. It has a nice beefy neck on it just how I like em I also put heavy gauge strings on it after I read where one famous guitar player liked the guitar to fight back when you do a bend. That made sense to me! The mini humbuckers are pretty hot too and are different than other guitars I’ve had. Les pauls, SG specials, a variety of Fenders. I guess all that comes down to taste.
So begs the question, why am I selling it now? I actually found and bought a vintage non reverse Firebird iii in Inverness green. Heck yeah! I’m more of a P90s guy anyway.
That Firebird iii is my favorite guitar now. I think this guitar is all original since that’s all I try to buy, but I will look for the paperwork and update the listing soon. It doesn’t have the original case, I will send it wrapped in bubble wrap in a bit of an oversized case.
Thanks for looking!
update 4/16/21 - I was wrong about John removing the hardware and electronics and putting them back in when I got it back from MJT, they did all that. He helped go through and verify authenticity. The pick guard is a repro from Pickgaurdian, and the decal for it was ordered separately. but I do have the original, nearly all of the screw holes are cracked which is why I bought the new one. Anyway, it's all legit. Thanks again.
Update 4/19 -
I will include the case from my other non-reverse firebird
