The Universal Audio Apollo Twin X DUO brings the sound and performance of UA’s acclaimed Apollo X series to a compact desktop format. Combining premium 24-bit/192 kHz A/D and D/A conversion, two Unison-enabled microphone preamps, and onboard UAD-2 DUO Core DSP processing, it offers a powerful recording and production solution for professional and home studios alike.
Built on Universal Audio’s decades of experience in analog recording technology, Apollo Twin X delivers exceptional clarity, detail, and dynamic range. With up to 127 dB D/A dynamic range, its high-performance converters provide accurate monitoring and recording, making it equally capable of tracking individual instruments, producing complex arrangements, and mixing finished productions.
At the heart of Apollo Twin X are two Unison-enabled microphone preamps, designed to reproduce the characteristics of legendary analog hardware. Unison technology interacts with compatible UAD plug-ins to adjust input impedance, gain staging, and other circuit behaviours, allowing engineers to record through authentic emulations of classic preamps from Neve, API, Manley, and Universal Audio. The front-panel Hi-Z input extends this technology to electric guitars and basses, supporting amplifier emulations from manufacturers such as Fender, Marshall, and Ampeg.
The integrated UAD-2 DUO Core processing allows musicians and engineers to record and monitor through UAD plug-ins with near-zero latency, without relying on the computer’s CPU. From vintage compressors and EQs to tape machines, channel strips, and guitar amplifiers, Apollo Twin X brings the character of classic studio equipment directly into the recording process.
Despite its compact dimensions, Apollo Twin X offers impressive connectivity and monitoring flexibility. Its two analog inputs are complemented by an optical ADAT/S/PDIF input, allowing up to eight additional digital channels. Dedicated monitor and line outputs, a headphone amplifier, and comprehensive desktop monitor controls make it a practical centrepiece for a professional production setup.
The interface also features a built-in talkback microphone, making communication with performers easy during recording sessions. Monitor functions including Mono, Mute, DIM, and ALT speaker switching provide convenient control over the listening environment.
Apollo Twin X integrates with Universal Audio’s LUNA Recording System, offering a streamlined recording and mixing workflow with deep Apollo hardware integration. It also works with major DAWs on compatible Mac and Windows systems, making it a versatile choice for engineers who want authentic analog sound with the flexibility of modern digital production.
