1994 Ibanez S540FM — Made in Japan / FujiGen — Original F1/C3/F2 Pickup Set — Hardshell Case

For sale is a 1994 Ibanez S540FM, one of the classic Japanese-made S Series guitars from the legendary FujiGen factory.

This is the real deal from the golden era of Japanese Ibanez production. The S540FM was a high-end model built in Japan with a flamed maple top and back over a mahogany body, a fast one-piece maple Wizard neck, rosewood fingerboard and the famous Lo-Pro Edge double-locking tremolo.

This particular 1994 model has the highly sought-after original IBZ/USA pickup configuration:

  • Neck: IBZ/USA F1 humbucker
  • Middle: IBZ/USA C3 single-coil
  • Bridge: IBZ/USA F2 humbucker

The F1/C3/F2 combination was used on the S540FM through 1994; Ibanez changed to the QM1/QMS1/QM2 pickup set beginning in 1995. These earlier F-series pickups are an important part of what makes the early S540FM models desirable.

Condition

Excellent overall condition for a 32-year-old guitar.

The guitar has been well cared for and presents extremely well. There are a few minor chips/cosmetic marks, consistent with its age, but nothing that detracts from the overall appearance or character of the instrument.

This is not a modern reissue or lower-cost Indonesian/Chinese S Series guitar. It is an original 1994 Japanese FujiGen S540FM, built during the period when these guitars were renowned for their construction, playability and hardware.

Comes with hardshell case.

A great opportunity to own one of the classic early Japanese Ibanez S guitars, particularly with the original F1/C3/F2 pickup configuration and Lo-Pro Edge tremolo.
