Part of Gibson's Guitar of the Week series, the Explorer Shred X was produced as part of a limited run in 2008. It features a gloss black finish, unadorned ebony fretboard, Kahler tremolo, blackout hardware, and a pair of EMG active humbuckers!
The Explorer Shred-X takes the classic Gibson Explorer platform and pushes it in a more modern direction. The EMG 85 pickups deliver a powerful, focused tone with plenty of output, while the Kahler tremolo and locking tuners make it a more versatile and performance-oriented instrument than a standard Explorer. It still has the big feel and visual presence of an Explorer, just with a more aggressive feature set.
