Beautiful 1952 Gibson J-50 in its original Natural finish. FON Z 334 14.
-
This is a wonderful early-'50s example with a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, small tortoise-style pickguard, and beautiful checking and honest play wear throughout.
-
The guitar sounds incredible. Big, open, dry and resonant, with the character that makes these early slope-shouldered Gibsons so desirable.
-
It was recently inspected and professionally set up by Straight Frets. The nut has been replaced. The bridge is original and shows evidence of older work around the saddle/string path. The luthier also noted that the neck may have been removed/reset at some point in the guitar's history, although he could not confirm this definitively. The endpin is missing.
-
Otherwise, the guitar presents remarkably well for its age, with extensive finish checking, scratches, dings and play wear consistent with a well-loved 74-year-old instrument. Please review the photos closely for condition.
-
Includes a vintage Gibson hardshell case. I believe the case may be original to the guitar, but until I can document it more thoroughly, I am listing it simply as a vintage Gibson case.
