Late last month, Make Noise announced the new X-Pan stereo mixer, and yesterday, on the first day of the Superbooth synth convention in Berlin, they leaned into their love of stereo sound and debuted a new stereo delay unit, the Mimeophon.
The Mimeophon was developed in collaboration with SoundHack, as with previous releases like the Echophon, Erbe-Verb, and Morphagene.
In addition to normal delay controls like Repeats and Rate, you can dial in the Mimeophon's colorful repetitions with the Color and Halo knobs—with Halo casting a kind of glow around the repeated sounds. Through the Skew button, you can change the Rate control of the left and right channels independently. And with the Zone button, you can determine what portion of the original signal to capture and repeat—from momentary fragments to long loops of audio.
Exact release date, pricing info, and more detailed specs are not out yet, but keep an eye here for updates. The X-Pan, the previously announced module that can take one or two mono sources and make a wide stereo image, is already up for pre-order on Reverb. A third stereo module, the brand-new XOH stereo and headphone utility output, also made its debut at Superbooth.
Be sure to check back on Reverb to see pricing and availability for the new modules soon.
