This sale is for a Gibson Les Paul Custom 1972 PLAYER GRADE in very good condition.
Scuffs and dings are to be expected from this 50+ year instrument.
Refinished professionally, a long time ago judging by the vintage yellowed/aged nitro tint.
I am unsure if the original color was Ebony, however there is no indication of it having been another color.
70-80% frets left. Period correct pancake body, 3pcs mahogany neck, slim profile (no bat).
The only original parts are the t top neck pickup, pu toggle switchcraft switch, poker chip, truss rod cover.
The bridge pu is a Seymour Duncan SH4-JB.
The current installed bridge is a Faber nickel with titanium saddles, Made in Germany as you can see in the reflection in one of the pictures, along with matching nickel Grover tuners and nickel pu covers / tailpiece.
The case is original, as you can tell by the condition (Fair) and may require repairs as one of the fasteners is brokne or a complete change of case if you plan on taking it outside as the bottom of the top of the case is structurally loose due to the age of the case to the point where the padding is exposed, see photos. For indoor storage it is sufficient.
IMPORTANT:
1. The guitar has been routed for a middle pickup on two different occasions and this was since removed by one of the previous owners (of which I am the third). The cavities, although filled, are still visible when inspected up close with sufficient lighting and focus, however are not apparently visible if no effort is made to spot and generally unnoticeable even from up close. Two small holes were additionally installed for toggle switches between knobs and have also been sealed off.
2. The serial number is missing as the back of the headstock has been further refinished to seal off the holes left by the original 2 hole pancake/kluson style tuners and it was never restored, however I am in possession of the original serial (a 6 digit number) and can provide this to the new owner for restoration purposes.
The neck is intact and has never cracked, AS FAR AS I AM AWARE AND CAN TELL, there is no crack seam.
Lastly, there are no issues with playability and the guitar sounds fantastic with infinite sustain, this is not a light guitar (as far as I can tell, although this is the only LP I have ever owned) and my scale is not very accurate, reading varies between 4.6-5 kg. I believe it may be on the heavier side, seeing as it is almost completely made of mahogany.
