Introduced in 1961 under the name “Les Paul,” the shape later known as the SG (Solidbody Guitar) became a huge success and remains the brand’s longest continuously produced model to this day.
This 1974 Gibson SG Standard in an elegant walnut finish comes from a period when the SG had already undergone numerous changes in tremolo, bridge, and neck construction. Typical for this year of manufacture is the rather narrow fretboard, measured at 40 mm at the nut, with its characteristic block inlays and the visually striking “harmonica” bridge.
Sonically, the guitar delivers exactly what you would expect from an SG of this era: uncompromising rock sound, biting, direct, and with powerful mids. The original “Tar-Back” humbuckers are perfect for classic rock, blues, and heavy riffs.
This SG has had only one owner and is in exceptionally good condition, with all original parts.
The guitar comes in its original case and with a strap that looks like it was with the guitar from the beginning.
