Reverend Rumblefish 5string
From 1999
#00639 First year of production and 17th in the series. Most likely the 1st blood red made, only 15 were made in this finish
Reverend Guitars started out in a garage in east Detroit in1997 and has since gained the attention of musicians around the world and now have signature series by people like: Reeves Gabrels, Billy Corgan, Greg Koch, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ron Asheton and Mike Watt.
The idea behind the Rumblefish was to make an updated and better version of the old Danelctro basses.
Instead of like the Danelectro, using low cost hardboard top on a plywood frame with vinyl covering.
The Rumblefish body is a high pressure phenolic laminate top and back, with a full length white mahogany center block with a steel sustain bar. That paired with the semi acoustic construction produces a lively, touch-sensitive tone with attack and depth. It’s a 35 inch scale with a classic early 60’s Fender profile. The pickups are two Reverend J-style pick ups that has got a nice variety of tones ranging from straight P-bass to a Jazz-bass sound.
You also get a banjo rest on the lower bout and if Fred Flintstone was a bass player, this would be his weapon of choice.
