This Ampeg B15N is owned by Matt Freeman of Rancid.
"I bought this amp in 1997 in Los Angeles. I used it on some of the songs on Rancid's Life Won't Wait record and Let The Dominos Fall record mostly. I have also used it on countless other demos and recordings I've been a part of over the years."
The B15N is Ampeg's legendary "fliptop" Portaflex, an all tube combo amp with a 1x15 speaker cabinet, known for decades as one of the most recorded bass amps in history, pairing a 25 watt tube top with simple volume and tone controls and a double baffle 1x15 cabinet that contributes to its deep, classic tone. The head is designed to flip and store inside the cabinet for transport, which is where the fliptop nickname comes from.
This amp shows plenty of wear given its age, with some small tolex tears and a few small holes in the grill cloth, but its definitely a well loved amp with a whole lot of history behind it, right down to the records it actually helped make.
Serial number 30794.
