Juan Miguel González is one of the finest Andalucian guitar makers of his generation — a luthier who has been building entirely by hand from his workshop in La Cañada, Almería. The address carries a significance that every serious guitarist will recognise: La Cañada is the birthplace of Antonio de Torres (1817–1892), the master luthier whose revolutionary work defined the architecture of the modern classical and flamenco guitar. Every guitar built in this small Andalucian town stands, whether consciously or not, in the shadow of Torres — and González honours that legacy with every instrument he makes.

His guitars have found their way into the hands of some of the finest flamenco guitarists working today. Among those who have played González instruments are Dani de Morón and Miguel Ángel Cortés — names that need no introduction in serious flamenco circles. That these players, who could choose any guitar in the world, return to González is a statement in itself.
