The Soyuz Lakeside is a single-channel Class-A microphone preamp built for engineers who want more than clean gain. It is a character piece, designed to bring weight, depth and harmonic colour into the recording chain while staying clear, controlled and easy to use.

Built around a fully discrete Class-A circuit with custom-wound Soyuz transformers on both the input and output, the Lakeside gives microphones, instruments and line-level sources a rich, finished quality before the signal reaches the converter. It can be used gently for full-bodied tone and clean headroom, or driven harder for dynamic breakup, saturation and a more pronounced vintage-style texture.

Control is simple and musical. The input gain switch works in 5 dB steps from 10 to 60 dB, making it easy to set level, repeat settings and match stereo pairs. The output trim lets you fine-tune the level going into the next stage, so you can push the input transformer and circuit for colour without overloading your recorder or interface.

The front-panel 1/4\" DI input gives the Lakeside another useful role in the studio, adding body and life to bass guitar, electric guitar, synths, drum machines and other high-impedance sources. It can also be used creatively for re-amping stems, recordings and full mixes through its transformer-balanced path.

A special part of the design is the inductor-based high-pass filter. Instead of a basic low-cut, the Lakeside offers a stepped 18 dB/octave filter with frequency points from 40 Hz to 330 Hz. Its musical resonance helps shape the low end with character, whether you are removing rumble, tightening a vocal or carving space in a dense arrangement.

The Soyuz Lakeside is a serious modern preamp with a classic sense of tone. It combines handcrafted transformer colour, discrete Class-A electronics and practical studio control in a 1U format that feels immediately musical on vocals, guitars, drums, synths and almost any source that needs a little more life.
