Vintage Orpheus Bb Clarinet Soviet Kyiv - Rare 19__ 588 Factory Engraving Error

For sale is a genuine Soviet Bb soprano clarinet made by the legendary Orpheus factory in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Factory History: The Orpheus factory was founded in Kyiv shortly after the Russian Revolution. For decades it was one of the leading manufacturers of musical instruments in the Soviet Union, producing a wide range of wind instruments. In the early 1980s the factory switched part of its production to popular tape recorders under the brand "Mayak" and was later renamed to Mayak.

Special Feature: The lower joint features a rare factory engraving «19__ 588» — the year begins with "19" but the remaining digits were never stamped. Such incomplete date engraving is very uncommon and is considered a factory error, making this example particularly interesting for collectors.

Condition: Good vintage condition. The ebonite body has no visible cracks, the pads look original and reasonably soft, and the keys move freely. Normal signs of age are present. A professional check and minor regulation is recommended before active playing (standard procedure for instruments 40–50 years old).
