For many years, there was a mouthpiece in New York that enjoyed immense popularity across genres, from orchestral musicians to big band players. Although the workshop continued to operate after being acquired in the 1980s, it closed down around the 1990s. The brand survived, and orders could still be placed, but since then, several subcontractors have been handling the actual manufacturing.

The subcontractors varied from time to time, and sometimes European mouthpiece specialists handled OEM production. Of the many subcontractors, it was discovered that one American manufacturer possessed the original data and tools.
