This is the Mixpre 10 model Sound Devices sold specifically for recording music: it doesn’t have the I/O for sync and is not intended for sound to picture duties. It will not support the Ambisonic plugin, mid-side, and probably not the newer “Assist” plugins. The firmware is regularly updated, but you’re buying it for what it’s marketed as: a twelve-track recorder with eight terrific, freely-assignable mic pres, cue/punch-in, takes, reverb, an “air” effect and Portastudio-style bounces. It’s in excellent shape, 100% perfect functionally, and the touchscreen is bright and crisp (see last photo for display brightness set at about three).

This sale includes the unit, power supply, the TA3 cables I had to buy separately (pricy!), and the chassis for AA battery power. You’ll need to provide your own SD card. I’m the only owner and this hasn’t been gigged or anything. It’s a fabulous bit of kit, but I want the video and ambisonic support as well as the musician plug-in, so that means I need to replace it with a T model or mark II.

In the embedded YT video, I have mix five tracks down to the “LR” bus, which is then streamed over USB-C to a DJI Osmo 3 camera. All panning, reverb, etc is effected with the MixPre-10M.<
