The LTD EC256 is a great reminder of how far value-priced guitars have come. Why settle for a plain finish when you can have a flame maple top? Exactly. It looks well above its price point, and the hardware feels solid with nothing cheesy about it. The thinner mahogany/maple body weighs just pounds, and the Thin-U neck feels fast, comfortable, and bend-friendly. The setup is solid, and the bound neck’s fretwork is neat and polished.

The chrome-covered ESP pickups offer moderate output and a vintage-style humbucker voice. The neck pickup is clear and articulate with a slightly soft low end, while the bridge stays balanced, bright, and free of harshness. They handle overdrive well, leaning more classic rock than metal, and sound good enough that you likely won’t feel the need to upgrade them.

It’s hard to find fault with the EC256, especially for the price. It looks fantastic, feels light on the shoulder, and delivers very respectable clean and dirty tones. Sure, you could swap in nicer tuners or boutique parts, but the point is you don’t need to. For a novice getting started or a budget-minded player wanting a solid single-cut, we can heartily recommend the LTD EC256.
