TED DIGISOUND SNAREDRUM MODULE – NOS

Rare, Dutch made unit from 1984, normally only found 2nd hand. Brand new from old stock, recently reappearing from storage. After three decades of storage and moving to other locations a few times, the box won’t be as-new anymore, but the contents are still perfect.

One of the earliest uses of digitally stored sounds in a musical instrument, quite a revolution at that time. Can be triggered with PLAY button, but it also has a Trig-IN that is activated by a microphone or piëzo pick-up, from percussion or from output of a drum machine, previously recorded drum channel, etc. to replace or beef up the sound. The pitch can be adjusted, as well as the sensitivity of the trigger input.

The Digisound Series was manufactured by TED, a Dutch company specializing in stage gear like stage mixers, phantom boxes, etc., and was intended for percussion instruments, cutting out the influence of the environment and providing a clean sound. But the possibilities are much wider and especially useful in a studio environment, since they can replace, or increase the dynamics of, pre-recorded or pre-programmed drum tracks.

A copy of the promotion leaflet is supplied to each buyer, showing the different options of using the Digisound in several setups and the basic connections.

Also supplied is a copy of the schematics, useful for keeping the unit alive in the future with the proper care.

Except for these new units I have also added one more in this shop, no longer boxed but pretty much “as new” and only used for a very short while as showroom model, resulting in a lower price. Also offered there: the extremely rare power supply unit. A rare chance, as many Digisound owners had no other choice than building their own.
