The AKG D224E is a legendary dual-capsule dynamic mic from the 1960s, prized for its unusually flat, natural response and ability to capture everything from vocals to orchestral instruments with clarity. Unlike most dynamics, it uses separate capsules for lows and highs, giving it an almost condenser-like detail while keeping the ruggedness of a stage mic. Heard on countless European broadcast and studio recordings of the era, it became a secret weapon for engineers wanting smooth mids and airy highs without harshness.
