The new DAC/Headphone Amp combo from JDS Labs is the brand’s new flagship, renowned for its exceptional performance. The Element IV operates with the 3rd generation XMOS hardware and software platform, perfectly integrated with the latest discrete optical encoder. You’ll hear a perfectly balanced stereo image and an infinitely low noise floor. The automatic gain feature helps you focus on listening rather than pressing buttons, while an auto-disappearing display provides essential information as you switch between USB and optical inputs, as well as headphone or preamp outputs.

The all-new Element IV Core™ web application allows you to intuitively adjust 10-band EQ profiles and much more. The Element IV is designed and manufactured in the USA.

Although headphone listening typically requires only a few milliwatts, the Element IV, with its tetradeca output buffers, delivers over 3200 mW per channel with perfectly clean, distortion-free power. It effortlessly drives all headphones on the market, from balanced headphones to the most power-hungry planar magnetic models.

Parametric EQ Powered by JDS Labs Core™

Designed for simplicity, the Element IV’s fully custom DSP engine supports up to 10-band real-time equalization while seamlessly integrating with automatic gain. Graphically adjust EQ profiles via JDS Labs Core software, and your settings are stored directly on the device—no downloads required! Your settings persist even when moving the Element IV to another room, PC, or console.

Automatic Gain

Forget about adjusting gain manually—the Element IV handles it for you. When turning the knob past 0 dB, high gain is activated, and volume is adjusted accordingly for a smooth transition to optimal settings.

Perfect Channel Balance

The Element IV delivers perfect channel balance down to -127.5 dBFS, ensuring exceptional precision and sonic depth.

Preamp Outputs

The Element IV features preamplified outputs, allowing you to control the volume of active speakers. Switch between headphones and speakers with a simple press of the rotary knob. Each mode (headphone or speakers) remembers its volume and EQ profile separately.

Customizable Buttons

The touch-sensitive rotary knob switches between headphone and speaker mode without unplugging cables. You can also customize button functions via JDS Labs Core to suit your needs.

OLED Display & Gorilla Glass

The screen displays essential information only during interactions and then turns off to minimize distractions. While all options are accessible via the OLED menu, the JDS Labs Core application offers a significantly enhanced user experience. The display is protected by tinted Gorilla Glass for added durability.

DC Protection & Safety

The Element IV features a proven analog DC detection circuit with an integrated safety relay to protect your headphones. This relay also eliminates startup noise. Additionally, independent processors continuously monitor internal communications and volume levels for enhanced safety.

USB Type-C Connectivity

The USB Type-C input supports up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM via a third-generation XU316-based UAC2 engine, with ASIO and DSD compatibility. EQ bands are available up to 192kHz, and two bands are supported at higher PCM rates.

UAC2 & UAC1 Compatibility for Consoles

Easily switch between UAC2 and UAC1 mode from the options menu for compatibility with PS5, Nintendo Switch, or older operating systems. This flexibility ensures optimal usability with any system.

Discrete Optical Encoder – A Unique Button

The Element IV features a second-generation discrete encoder with 50% more detents, offering faster response and smooth rotation thanks to a robust steel shaft. Optical sensors ensure exceptional durability for millions of rotations.

Power Isolation & ±17V Rails

The Element IV’s amplifier and DAC are powered exclusively by an external AC transformer. With 13 regulators, it ensures stable voltage, ultra-low noise, and perfect power isolation. The D/A conversion benefits from a dedicated LT3045 regulator for pristine sound quality.
