French Horn Mouthpiece
No Stamp
New Old Stock
Mint Condition
Offered from my personal collection:
Many of these mouthpieces have been in my possession for 40+ years
This is an Unbranded antique French Horn (mellophone?) mouthpiece which was in the inventory of a mouthpiece maker. The entire inventory was auctioned off and several of these mouthpieces were already plated. It has no stamp for brand or cup size. It has all the plating intact and looks like it was never played. There are no imperfections. Some specs of tarnish are forming inside the cup and bore, otherwise perfect.
The unusual characteristics include the wide flat rim, which I imagine is very comfortable on the lips. These are the measurements using calipers. Overall length which is longer that a standard French Horn mouthpiece is 2.72". The cup diameter is .60" and the receiver end appears standard at .029". The cup is funnel shaped and very deep. I couldn't get a measurement for this, but it looks like about 1" or slightly more.
This could be the perfect match for an antique horn missing it's mouthpiece. Look carefully.
I can send more photos and measurements on request.
Thanks for looking!
