Gretsch Round Badge Jazz Kit Vintage 60s 16"x12" bass drum!

This drum kit is not desirable for collectors or purists who demand 100% originality from vintage instruments. We are well aware that if a set with these characteristics had been originally produced by Gretsch in the 60s, it would now be worth around 30,000 euros or possibly more.

This set is designed for advanced jazz drummers seeking the sound of Gretsch round badge drums in more compact sizes, and who are attracted to the sound of a 16" bass drum. The set has been constructed using 6-ply Gretsch round badge Jasper shells from the 1960s, and the White Marine Pearl wrap is original Gretsch of the period.

The 8"x12" tom is completely original from the factory, while the 12"x16" bass drum has been created by converting a 16" round badge floor tom, and the 12"x14" floor tom has been created by converting a Gretsch round badge cocktail drum. The edges of the bass drum have been cut correctly at a 30-degree angle, the edge of the floor tom has been rounded outwards, exactly as the original edges of the era were made.

This bass drum shares the same characteristics as the 12"x16" Gretsch bass drum used by Elvin Jones during that era, but obviously no one can achieve the same sound or play like the great Elvin! The 12"x16" bass drum under his feet thundered like a 24"!

This is a truly unique set, and its creation required a lot of time to find all the necessary parts, a considerable investment and many hours of professional craftsmanship.

The set appears visually original because all the parts are Gretsch, with all round badge shells and the original wrap. The sound is exactly that of the original 6-ply Gretsch from the 60s.

Whoever acquires this set will realize the uniqueness of its sound, a sound that no one else possesses.

The price of the set DOES NOT include the snare drum in the photos, which is available in a separate listing, so in this auction only the kit consisting of bass drum, tom-tom and floor tom is on sale.

A 14"x14" floor tom of the same era and finish is also available. It is possible to replace the 14"x12" with the 14"x14" for an additional €1,000.

The legs of the bass drum and floor tom are new reproductions, while the rest of the hardware is original Gretsch vintage from the 1960s.
