1993 Fender USA Precision Plus Deluxe , "Longhorn" or "Boner" bass, Caribbean Mist

This is a beautiful 1993 Fender Precision Bass Plus Deluxe model designed by George Blanda in 1989 and is one of the first Fender model to feature 22 frets on a Precision bass.

The name Longhorn Bass or Boner Bass comes from these extra frets. The body had to be cut with longer horns on the top to balance the bass and prevent neck-dive. This is a Fender Precision Bass Plus Deluxe that was made around the same time, and these two lines were discontinued in 1993. The P-Plus Deluxe models are recognized by having stacked pots, no pickguard and a smaller headstock.

This bass is in great shape and has not been played very much. It only is listed in "Very Good" and not "Excellent" condition due to the single ding through the finish on the back where it was dropped (not by me). It is now equipped with Strap Lock connections on the body so that will hopefully never happen again. This is only affecting the finish, the body is still in great shape. It cannot be seen from the front when playing. Some of the dot inlays look like some of the finish is starting to separate, but this does not effect the playing. Wikipedia says: This bass features the same specifications as the Precision Bass Plus, but has a downsized body shape, rear-routed controls, side-mounted jack socket and a -designed 2-band active EQ with separate stacked control pots for master volume, pickup pan, treble and bass. Introduced in 1992, it was discontinued in 1994 and replaced by the in 1995.
