Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a rare older RCA MI-4068A model microphone floor stand that was manufactured in the 1940's and is quite hard to come by today. This unique floor stand had the extra wide, thick and heavy cast iron base with a unique slender dome. I have only ever seen a few of these stands in past and they were either a brass or cast iron model.

This one is cast iron and comes with it's original adjustable two chrome risers. As you can see the riser are the older type with the brass build and chrome plate. These older risers didn't have the high quality chrome plate like the newer ones you see today and the chrome generally wore off from years of use exposing the brass beneath having a nice patina.

Pic # 2 shows this very model in an old 1940's RCA catalog I have.

As you know many of the older RCA mics as well as other American mics like the Shure 55 were quite large and heavy. This MI-4068A was great for such mics as the wider, heavier base gave the user that much more stability and peace of mind.

This stand weighs roughly 15 pounds. It can be adjusted form a low height of 35 inches to a top height of 59 inches tall which is more than enough for even the tallest musician. The center clutch mechanism works perfectly as well.

As you can see there is typical wear on this stand but overall it's in very god condition. The risers have the stated wear but they are free of any dents. The cast iron base has the original black paint with paint chips and scratches.

The stand originally came with 6 base pads but from decades of use they were all missing so I took liberties to add 3 new quality Atlas bumper feet that work great for this stand. It will keep the stand from scratching any surface you use it on and adds a bit of padding and height in case you need to run a cable down the risers and out under the base. The bumper feet are well secured too.

This mic stand is an easy 6 + on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department. It will make for a great display piece with your mic anywhere in the home, office or studio and the rarity of it makes it even more desirable. This stand will only go up in value as they are just getting very hard to find now.

I should note as well that this is the first one I have had to offer in 4 years and I probably won't have another to offer in a very long time.

MICROPHONE SHOWN ON STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
