This vintage-correct RELIC pickup set is inspired by David Gilmour’s legendary 1955 Esquire, known as “The Workmate.”

David’s original 1955 Esquire previously belonged to Seymour Duncan, who gave or sold it to Gilmour around 1975–76. The guitar already showed heavy wear, which led David to nickname it after a Black & Decker workbench (Phil Taylor Q&A, davidgilmour.com, Dec 2007)

Traditionally, Esquires differ from Telecasters by lacking a neck pickup, but Gilmour’s guitar is unique. Seymour Duncan, then working at Fender, custom-made and installed a neck pickup for David. The original was Strat-sized; our version is built in a standard Tele neck size for easy installation on any Telecaster pickguard 🔧
