Vintage, Gretsch 1950s drums in Peacock Sparkle finish are considered amongst the rarest of the rarest vintage drums. The color was not very popular when it was released in the late 1950s and within a few years it was discontinued. The multi-colored sparkles in this finish faded easily. Combine the fact that there were very few ever made with the fact that the finish fades very easily and it makes it virtually impossible to find a Gretsch Peacock Sparkle drum in this condition.
Structurally the drum is excellent with no notable issues. Everything works as intended. Take a close look at the chrome and you'll see some extremely minor pitting and scratches. There is clear definition in the color of the pink and green sparkles. You can accurately see the level of fading by contrasting the color of the finish near the edges that were protected by the heads and hoops, with the color closer to the middle of the shell. The fade is very minor. The finish is still vibrant.
The drum has been cleaned, and tuned with a new top Remo Coated Ambassador head.
