Antonio de Torres 1864 "La Suprema" FE 19 made by Juan Fernandez Utrera in 2023 – an extremly nice reproduction!

In 2019 on a trip to Spain we happened to discover the shop and the guitars of Juan Fernandez Utrera.
We were immediately thrilled, because such magnificent sounding guitars are hard to come across.

That’s why we decided to include Utrera guitars in our program. We are happy to present this Torres reproduction which he did especially for us.

Juan Fernandez Utrera is still a relatively young guitar builder from Granada. We like his guitars exceptionally well.

This guitar is built after the Antonio de Torres "La Suprema" FE 19 from 1864. It is very light, has a spruce top and beautiful cypress back and sides.
The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width 50 mm. It plays extremly well all the way down the neck.

Tonally, this guitar impresses with a very sweet, but also very powerful tone of unusual substance. It is a very charming instrument. The woods create a nice and sweet tone. It has a great richness and harmonious quality. The notes blend together beautifully and yet maintain their clarity and separation. The cypress wood gives this guitar some extra attack and explosiveness.
The sound can also be incredibly powerful - truly a good copy of the Antonio de Torres "La Suprema" FE 19.
