À propos de cette annonce

For your consideration is a vintage Ludwig marching vertical bell lyre / lyra glockenspiel with 25 bars in a mixed metal variety with the pole insert included. Once a common piece of the marching band before the introduction of the front ensemble, this instrument offers a mobile glockenspiel sound with good volume and light weight. This instrument is also popular in military and civil bands as well as the drum and lyre corps of the Philippines. Traditionally played with mallets and held with either a mount or a strap, this instrument is a great part of music history!

This marching glockenspiel is in fair condition mainly due to the weld repairs located on the bracket system. The top weld is located just above the G# bar and is mostly covered up by the attachment bracket. When this weld was done, the original owner and/or repair person did not re-drill the piece for the mounting screw. So, we have fixed this by drilling and re-mounting the bracket. The second weld repair is located to the bottom left side of the F# bar. This one is more noticeable because it is exterior of the bar section. Welds appear to be well done and the bracket feels strong. Other noticeable blemishes include scratches to the top side of the bar where it appears that stickers or other adhesive pieces were placed and then removed. All bells ring true, so this is a cosmetic situation. The vertical tube pole is also marked from years of use but is still fully functional.

At its tallest, it measures at 27" and at its widest is 20" and weighs 12.5 lbs.

Take advantage of owning a piece of history with a top name branded vertical bell lyre / lyra! No mallets, strap, or case included.

Thanks for your consideration!
