Yamaha Super Rock N Roller SR400S (1980 made in japan stratocaster)

The Yamaha Super Rock n Roller SR 400S was made in the famous Terada factory in Japan in the late 70's - early 80's. The SR400S guitars are crazy clones of a '62 stratocaster built with vintage specs and incredible japanese craftsmanship, like most guitars made in the Terada factory. This guitar reminds me a lot of Ira Kaplan's worn out natural strat, it has tone and sustain for days and the look and feel is super nice. Funk machine!

This particular model (made in 1980) is made of resonant sen ash with an amazing rosewood neck, all of its parts look original, including the super funky 3-way toggle switch and the lovely and spanky pickups. It has a 7.25 radius / 25.5 scale. I just gave the guitar a proper set up with 10's and the action and feel is unbelievable, really.  The maple on the back of the neck has been nicely worn and feels a lot like a matte finish, but without being opaque. The tuners and all the electronics are working perfectly, no scratchy knobs or wonky pots. The guitar has been played, there is honest wear from 40 years of rock and rolling, but nothing serious. Just a couple of regular dings and scratches I tried my best to photograph. The logo has peeled off on some spots, as you can see in the pictures. It doesn't look like it will continue peeling or flaking though. The trem bar is missing.

There are lots of strat clones out there, but not all of them are good guitars and sometimes its really hard to tell, specially when importing from Japan. This guitar is overall an amazing stratocaster, even better than most fenders out there. It is also a great platform for upgrades and mods, these guitars are the best workhorses. I really feel some funky vibes from these guitar, Niles Rodgers kind of sounds coming from it. The guitar doesn't have a case, but I'm including a generic gigbag for protection.
